Get up and running with Puggy in minutes.

Prerequisites

  • Google Chrome or a Chromium-based browser for the extension.
  • Access to your team’s Puggy console.
  • A Puggy account or an invitation to join a Puggy organization.
  • Permission to install the Puggy Chrome extension.

Install the extension

  1. Open the Puggy Chrome Web Store listing.
  2. Click Add to Chrome.
  3. Confirm the browser permission prompt.

Open the console

Open the Puggy console URL provided by your team.

Sign in

  1. Sign in to the console.
  2. Accept an organization invitation if you were invited by email.
  3. Open the extension popup.
  4. Sign in to the extension.
  5. Select the organization where new sessions should upload.
The extension can upload sessions automatically after you are signed in and have selected an organization.

Record your first session

Start recording

  1. Click the Puggy extension icon in Chrome.
  2. Choose Record.
  3. Select the source you want to capture.
  4. Choose audio and capture options.
  5. Start recording and approve the browser capture prompt.
Puggy can capture screen recording, screenshots, network requests, console logs, and user interactions during the session.

Reproduce the issue

Navigate through the product normally until you reproduce the issue. If the on-screen controls are enabled, you can capture screenshots or stop recording without reopening the popup.

Stop recording

  1. Stop recording from the extension popup, on-screen controls, or browser capture controls.
  2. Review the local session viewer that opens after recording.
  3. Wait for upload to finish.
  4. Open the uploaded session in the console.

Capture a screenshot-only issue

Use screenshot mode when a still image is enough.
  1. Open the extension popup.
  2. Choose Screenshot.
  3. Choose Visible area or Region.
  4. Capture and annotate the screenshot.
  5. Create the session.

Review the session

In the console, open Sessions and select the uploaded session. You can review:
  • Video playback.
  • Screenshot gallery.
  • Console logs.
  • Network requests.
  • User interactions.
  • Performance and accessibility data when available.
  • Generated bug reports and test scripts.

Share the result

After reviewing the evidence, you can:
  • Copy a public share link.
  • Revoke a share link.
  • Generate an AI bug report.
  • Generate a Playwright test script.
  • Create a Jira, GitHub, ClickUp, or YouTrack ticket.
  • Send the session to Slack.

Troubleshooting

Extension Not Recording

  • Check Chrome permissions in chrome://extensions/
  • Ensure you granted screen recording permission
  • Restart Chrome after installation.

Auto-Upload Not Working

  • Verify you are signed in to both the extension and console.
  • Confirm the correct organization is selected.
  • Check network connectivity.
  • View upload status in the extension or local session viewer.

Session Upload Failed

  • Keep the local session viewer open until you confirm the upload state.
  • Retry after checking authentication and connectivity.
  • Ask your workspace admin if uploads fail repeatedly.
