Puggy exposes its main recording and screenshot actions as keyboard shortcuts so you can trigger them without opening the extension popup. This keeps the page you are testing in focus and avoids the popup appearing in your screenshots. Shortcuts are not assigned by default — you choose the key combinations that work for you and configure them in Chrome.

Available actions

You can assign a shortcut to each of the following:

Configure your shortcuts

Chrome manages extension shortcuts centrally, so you assign or edit them from the browser, not the Puggy popup.
  1. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts in your browser.
  2. Find the Puggy section.
  3. Click the pencil icon next to an action and press the key combination you want.
  4. Use the scope dropdown to choose In Chrome (works only when Chrome is focused) or Global (works system-wide).
  5. Repeat for any other actions you want shortcuts for.
Pick combinations that aren’t already used by another extension or by your operating system. If a shortcut shows Not set or does nothing after you assign it, the combination is likely taken — return to chrome://extensions/shortcuts and choose a different one.

Notes

  • Screenshot shortcuts work whether or not a recording is active.
  • The start and stop shortcuts behave exactly like the Start and Stop controls in the popup.
  • Shortcuts apply to the active tab; make sure the page you want to capture is focused before pressing them.
